Anecdotes – 30th September 2018

Behind the scenes

Scott Henderson (2004/05 to 2017/18) is one of the greatest fast bowlers in our history. Hendo, an inspirational quick has taken 258 wickets at the amazing average of just 14.3 plus scored 1,942 runs. He is also one of only a few players who has won 4 successive Rofe Shields (A1 Premierships).

Outside cricket, Hendo is the SCG Events Manager with responsibility for organising all major Events at the SCG / Alliance Stadium.

Hendo is the person who organises the SCG New Years Test, Swans games, NRL matches and also Concerts – anything played or performed at the SCG precinct. His most recent achievement is organising the Roosters Vs Rabbitohs Elimination Final last weekend that drew a ground record crowd of 44,380 at Alliance Stadium on Saturday 22 September 2018.

Big Achievements

Individual achievements

Simon Smyth (A2) bowled his 2,000th over last weekend to be just the 6th player in our history to reach this mammoth achievement.

Tim Scoular (A1) took his 200th wicket to be just the 49th player in our history to take 200 wickets.

Ross Anderson (C3 and pictured ) scored his 8,000th run for the Club on Saturday which makes him the 1st player in our Club to reach this milestone.

Team achievements

B1 Grade – we went into this Round needing just 65 runs to pass the cumulative Team total of 140,000 runs since this Grade first played in 1946/47. We finished the day scoring 211 runs in B1 Red & B1 Blue. This is the highest Team aggregate in our history across all Grades.

Coming up

  • A1 Grade – has scored a cumulative total of 119,262 runs since starting in 1951/52
  • B2 Grade – has scored 99,520 runs since starting in 1958/59 season
  • C2 Grade – the C2 boys have scored a cumulative total of 119,942 runs since starting in 1960/61 so next week will tick over their 120,000th run as a Grade

Two hat-tricks

In our 88 year history there has only been 49 hat-tricks taken. Also, there has never been two hat-tricks taken on the same day – until Saturday. Well done to our two players who go into this distinguished list of players for this rare achievement:

  • Kyle Townsend (B1 Red and pictured right with arms folded) Vs Normanhurst-Warrawee and our 1st hat-trick in B1 since 2008/09
  • Cameron Price (D1) Vs Thornleigh – our 1st in D1 since 2015/16

Cameron went one step further, scoring the first ton of the season last week in his debut match for our Club.
