Country Carnivals
Our Club is the only Club in NSW to be invited to play in the big Junior Country Carnivals played over the New Year. These Carnivals are Representative standard and it gives players from our Club a wonderful opportunity to enjoy time away in Country NSW playing some great cricket and just having a lot of fun.
U14s Tamworth JCU Carnivals
The Carnival was played between 7th and 11th January against Teams representing: Armidale, Gold Coast, Invitational X1, Lismore, Manly Presidents Cup Reps, South East Queensland and Tamworth.
The Team won 2 games (Armidale and an Invitational X1) and lost 3 games in a successful Carnival.
Well done to our top performing players:
- Batting:
- Steve Easton – 106 runs @ 26.50
- James Stuart-Gray – 100 runs @ 33.33
- Bowling:
- Lachlan Edwards – 8 wickets @ 8.38
U15 Walter Taylor Shield (Armidale)
The Carnival was played between the 2nd and 5th January against Teams from: Armidale, Lismore, Hunter Valley, Mid-North Coast and Tamworth.
We played 5 games and lost all games against strong opposition but pushed Hunter Valley and Manly-Warringah to close games.
The following TV News article from Prime 7 this week shows our players in action – here
Well done to our top performing players:
- Aryan Tyagi – 107 runs @ 26.75
- Jack Hutchinson – 6 wickets @ 6.00
U16 Stan Austin Cup (Taree) (7 January to 10 January)
The Carnival was played between the 7th and 10th January against Teams from: Armidale, Gold Coast, Hunter Valley, Manly-Warringah, Tamworth.
While we went down in all 5 games against strong Opposition it was a lot of fun and a great learning experience.
To quote our Manager, Rob Hanich:
“The boys had a cracking time in Taree. They may not have won a game (it was clear the team we had was outclassed), but they bonded extremely well and had more fun than I have seen on any other country carnival. A great bunch of boys that are a real credit to their parents and excellent ambassadors for our club. They fell short each day on the field, but never gave up. The support crew (parents, siblings and grandparents) were also fantastic.”
Well done also to our top performing players:
- Andrew Cooper – 42 runs @ 17.25
- Louis Madison-Hanlon – 7 wickets @ 16.00

Girls Cricket
The results from the Final Round of the Spring Competition, played on Saturday 1st December are listed below. Congratulations to our Undefeated Premiership winning U13s:
U13s
WPHC 4/76 defeated Thornleigh 56 – our amazing team went undefeated through the Competition and despite a low score with the bat today they bowled out Thornleigh to win by 20 runs. Special mention to Trinity who was undefeated with the bat and followed up with 3 wickets plus 2 run outs. Our team ranged in age from 7 through to 12 and for almost half the team it is their first season of cricket.
U15s
WPHC Red 2/91 defeated Thornleigh 7/90 – a plate final for the Reds. Tight bowling with wickets shared around meant chasing 91 to win. Ellen and Danielle added 48 without taking any chances to chase down easily the Thornleigh score
WPHC Blue 77 lost to Castle Hill 4/79 – contested the Grand Final and we failed to post a big total. However they fought back well with the ball and got Castle Hill 4 down with 34 still needed but they just could not break the 5th wicket but a great effort by the girls.
Competition table
U13s
- WPHC 1st and Premiers
U15s

- Red = 2nd (3rd on quotient)
