  • Juniors Team Manager (numerous)
  • Juniors Secretary – 2017/18
  • Juniors Director – 2019 to present

In May 2021, Steve was awarded the inaugural ‘Special Achievement Award’ acknowledging years of exceptional service.

The sheer scale of the Juniors Director’s job is worth calling out. Since Buzz’s term as Juniors Director started in 2019 we have entered 197 Junior Teams – an average of 39 Teams / season.

While on the Juniors Director’s role, Buzz has continued this role despite his son, Ben, now playing Seniors so has no child playing but wanted to ensure he handed over Leadership once he was confident that the operating structure is sustainable.

His most significant achievements are:

Covid Response

The most challenging administrative hurdle facing us in a generation was during the Covid years between 2019/20 to 2012/22. During this time Buzz led our Juniors and also as a member of our Club Executive, through a period of great uncertainty. This involved delayed starts to the season, changes to the registration cycle and complying with Govt. safeguards.

Driving strategy and structural change

  • Working with our Girls Directors to fully integrate the Girls into the Juniors (Mixed) to share administrative responsibilities. This work is ongoing and will provide a lasting legacy
  • Restructuring the Juniors to create the role of 2 x Deputy Directors looking after U8 – U11 & U12 to U17). This has established a succession pathway for the Directors role and eased the administrative burden on the Director.

Association

Buzz has been one of our Association delegates since taking on the Juniors Director’s role (2019).

Steve Quanborough (#27)

Playing

Steve joined our Club in 1998/99 and this season notched up his 25th year of Service. His on-field playing achievements are:

  • Has played in 188 games in most Seniors Grades and finished with 196 wickets & 2,767 runs
  • Multiple times Seniors Team Captain and has been a strong advocate of transitioning Juniors to Seniors and ensuring that every young player has a great experience with Seniors cricket.

Administrative contribution

Steve has a long history of contributing to our Club & Association:

Club

Steve has held many Leadership roles. His energy and enthusiasm has been consistently outstanding:

  • Seniors Director – 2016/17
  • Seniors Registrar – 2021/22 to 23/24
  • Seniors Captain – numerous Teams
  • Junior Blast Coach

Steve has also been a key member if the Seniors Selection Committee for a number of years due to his knowledge of the players, unbiased attitude and having the respect (and ear) of the Captains and Senior players across the Club.

Association

Steve has been an Association delegate at various times throughout his playing career. His most significant contribution has been on the Senior Competition Committee (SCC) where he has played a significant role in supporting the SCC Chair.
