Storey Park
History
Storey Park (1953)
The Oval is the site of a brickwork’s (pre Great War). It was then the site of Fowlers Pottery works (earthenware/pipe manufacturers). The Great Depression and WW11 saw the business close. Before conversion to an oval the land was used as a camp for Displaced Persons after WW11. It was known as ‘Balts Camp’ as people came from various countries from northern Europe. The ground was named after Cr Sid Storey – the 9th Shire President.
