Happy Christmas / New Year / Holidays

We now go into a short recess over the Christmas / New Year period. We return to playing on the following dates:

  • Seniors – Saturday 11 January 2025
  • Juniors Mixed – Saturday 1st February 2025
  • Girls – Saturday 1st February 2025
  • Blast – Saturday 1st February 2025

On behalf of our Leadership Team we wish everyone a safe and restful break and we look forward to seeing everyone back on deck in 2025.

A special thankyou to our Volunteers who contribute so much and are the reason we have such a great Club.

Blast Initiatives

Colour Bash – All-Girls Cricket Blast Holiday Program

CNSW is running a fantastic initiative for Girls to build on the great Summer of Cricket. The initiative covers:

  • FREE All-Girls Program
  • Aimed at girls aged 5 – 12 – no past experience necessary.
  • Learn new skills and have fun along the way.
  • Wear activewear ( White T Shirts for Colour Bash events)
  • Water and colour-based activities- prepare to get Wet

  • Where: Thornleigh Park
  • Time: 10.00 am to 2.00 pm

Blast Holiday Bash Program

With the fantastic Test Series against India getting better and better + the BBL starting next week, CNSW is running a series of Blast initiatives to capitalise on this interest. We are fortunate to have a program run in our own backyard – Greenway Park. Details are:

  • Time: 9.00 am to 3.00 pm

Blast Term 1 (2025) registrations

  • What is being offered:
    • Blast (boys & girls) aged 5 & 6 years with games available on both Saturday morning and Tuesday Twilight all at Edward Bennett Oval
    • All-Girls Blast (girls only aged 5 to 9 years) played Friday twilight at Thornleigh Oval
  • Cost:
    • Registration fee is just $50.00 (the full-season fee is $130)
    • If you also introduce a friend to play we will refund you the $50.00 so your child gets to play for free
  • When: Term 1, 2025 (8 weeks)

Sydney Sixers Special offer

The Sydney Sixers has a special offer for the Sixers Vs Perth Scorchers BBL game at the SCG on 11th January 2025.

In the offer, for every ticket purchased from a Club member we get a point on our schools ticketing competition Leaderboard.

The more tickets our members purchase the greater the chance of winning a visit from one of our very own Big Bash players.

Bradman Museum Exhibition

The Bradman Museum is launching an exhibition on the ‘Unstoppables’ – an exhibition that features the 12 most influential Women in the history of Australian Cricket. One of our own features – Denise Annetts who represented Australia between 1985 and 1993 and was a long-term volunteer with West Penno and occasional player.

The exhibition will run over Summer and “…Unstoppable brings to life stories of excellence, determination, and passion from women’s cricket. Countless clever, resourceful and talented women are featured for their achievements on and off the field, which have inspired millions of people around the world.”

The exhibition launch details are:

If you are anywhere near Bowral over Summer then pop in and have a look at this wonderful exhibition.

New website

Development work is proceeding with our new website. It is just about ready for a final test and will be operational very soon. There is lots of new functionality with the latest technology.

The website will have a new look, be quicker and have all the latest social media capability integrated into the front-end.

The Coaches’ Association highly regarded Clinics are coming around soon. Details will follow but for your early planning here goes:

  • Mark Taylor Oval (MTO)  – Monday 6th & Tuesday 7th January 2025
  • Greenway Park – Wednesday 15th & Thursday 16th January
  • MTO – Monday 20th & Tuesday 21st January

Cricket Australia (CA) has released its important – Women & Girls Action Plan= have a browse and be informed of the big plans CA has for female cricket.

Standings after a wet weekend, Round 11 (21/12):

 All-Girls:

  • Harris 6th (14 points)

  • Stage 1 (7 to 11 years of age – no experience necessary) – Friday twilight Girls-only cricket (played in the Hornsby district)

Saturday (NSJCA)

  • Cricket Blast (5 to 7 year olds for boys & girls);
  • Stage 1 (a) – 7 to 11 years of age – new / a bit of experience. Saturday (played at local grounds and in the North Shore area
  • Stage 1(b) – 10 to 11 years. Saturday afternoon home & away hardball
  • Stage 2 & Stage 3 (ages 12 to 17 years of age)Saturday afternoon Girls-only competitive cricket.
