Our latest high achiever
Congratulations to Daniel McEwen (D2) who has been selected in the NSW Intellectual Disability team that competes in the National Cricket Inclusion Championships being held in Queensland this week – between 20-25 January 2024.
Players will also be in the running for selection in the Australian Disability Teams that will tour later this year.

Twilight Women’s Cricket League
An exciting new Social Women’s cricket Team starts in February. Details are:
- When: Starts Thursday 1st February 2024 until 21st March (8 weeks)
- Ages: 16 years+
- Times: Starts at 6.00 pm until 7.30 pm (90 minutes)
- Teams: up to 8 players. Register as a single or put a team together.
- Where: Coolong Reserve & Ollie Webb Reserve – Parramatta
- Cost: $125.00

Sports Club Christmas Tree Decorating competition
The Sports Club ran a Christmas Tree decorating competition over December. The 4 x major local Sporting Clubs (Cricket, Lions Football, Demons AFL & Giants (Baseball).
Patrons were given a voucher for every $5 spent at the Bar and asked to vote on the winning Tree. The winning Tree received a $1,000 donation from the Sports Club.
Congratulations to our Team of Ruth (Cricket Blast), Neera (Juniors) & our Junior Girls who combined to create the winning entry with an amazing 2,451 votes from Club Patrons!

Junior Leadership Program
We are excited to running be separate Junior Leadership programs for our Junior players + Team Coaches & Managers. The theme is “What does it take to be my best?”
Details are:
- When: Tuesday 13th & Thursday 15th February 2024
- Where: WPH Sports Club
- Time: 7.00 pm to 8.15 pm
- Cost: FREE.
The Program will be run by Alan Mantle who is a renowned Sports psychologist who is currently with CNSW and has an extensive involvement with other major sports: NRL, AFL, Bulldogs, CNSW & CA Umpires Association, current International cricket players from Australia, India, England, Sri Lanka and Vanuatu. Add to this the NSW Police, international wakeboard and pistol shooting his record is impressive – Enhance mind performance

Playing & training shirt re-design
Our Club Executive Committee (ExCo) approved a new uniform design for players and volunteers for next season for Juniors (Mixed) & Seniors. There is no change to the Girls playing uniform.
We will survey the Juniors (Mixed) and Seniors shortly to get preferences for the preferred choice of:
- 3 x new designs for a playing shirt
- 2 x new designs for a training shirt
- Volunteers will receive a new design with no vote on the design option.
The new shirts will be subsidised so the transition cost will be low.

New website
Next season we will be launching a new website. It will be using the latest technology to allow us to ramp-up our social presence.
The new system will be:
- Have a new look and feel plus will be quicker
- Have links to PlayHQ to pick-up important playing information (e.g.; Draw & results)
- Incorporate a booking system for all Club events that will save collecting money on the day
- Dropbox for all key Club documents
- Public notice board
- A Public Notice Board
- Detailed analytics

Competition re-start
With the passing of the Christmas / New Year period the Season re-commencement dates are:
- Seniors – underway
- Cricket Blast – Saturday 3rd February 2024
- Girls – Saturday 3rd February 2024
- Juniors (Mixed) – Saturday 3rd February 2024
Changes to Seniors Competition
The Association Seniors Competition Committee has advised the following changes:
Regrading
- Following a review of Grades the SCC have regraded Asquith Rugby League from B Grade down to B2 Grade to take effect at the completion of Round 9 (6/1/2024)
- ARL B1 Grade side has been regraded to B2
- There will also be some minor changes to the D2 draw to remove inconsistencies.
C2 & C3 re-grade points allocation
Following the re-grading of our C2 Blue & C3 Blue sides there will also be a points adjustment of 9 competition points to the WPHC Blue teams in C reserve (+9 points) and C3 (-9 points) grades as a result of a regrade earlier in the season.
Coaches’ Association School Holiday’s Clinics
The Association Coaches’ Association is calling for registrations for their January 2024 School Holidays Clinics.
The Coaches’ Association is a not-for-profit body that has built an outstanding reputation for excellence. It is also is highly recommended by our Club.

Registration status
The Clinics are approaching capacity at MTO (2 clinics). There is still capacity at Greenway Park and it is expected to fill within the next couple of weeks. So don’t delay if you are interested in sending the kids to these great clinics.

Greenway Oval – cricket nets repairs
Repairs works have been scheduled to the Greenway Oval 2 cricket practice nets synthetic grass on:- (weather permitting). Details are:
- Monday 29 January 2024 7am to 3pm
- Tuesday 30 January 2024 7am to 3pm
- Wednesday 31 January 2024 7am to 3pm.
During the above times the Greenway Oval 2 cricket practice nets and possibly a small section of the outside athletics track lanes in that area will be unavailable.

The Pathway for Girls this season is:
Friday (HK&HDCA)
- All-Girls Blaster Hub (5 to 7 years + new to cricket / soft ball program) – Friday Twilight hub at Thornleigh Oval
- Stage 1 (7 to 11 years of age – new / a bit of experience) – Friday twilight Girls-only cricket (played in the Hornsby district)
Saturday (NSJCA)
- Cricket Blast (5 to 7 year olds for boys & girls);
- Stage 1 (a) – 7 to 11 years of age – new / a bit of experience. Saturday (played at local grounds and in the North Shore area
- Stage 1(b) – 10 to 11 years. Saturday afternoon home & away hardball
- Stage 2 & Stage 3 (ages 12 to 17 years of age) – Saturday afternoon Girls-only competitive cricket.
