Junior Grand Finals

Congratulations to our Junior Premiers who played on Sunday 11 March:

  • U16 Gold

Congratulations also to the U12 Red Team who were Runner-up to the Purple Team. More details below in the Juniors update.

Junior Presentation Day

Our Presentation Day that marks the end of our Juniors season is on next weekend. Details are:

  • When:
    • Saturday 17th March
  • Time:
    • U12s to U16s – 9.15 am for a 9.30 am start
    • U8s to U11s – 10.30 am for a 10.45 am start
  • Where:
    • Oakhill Drive Public School
  • What to wear:
    • No need to wear cricket whites, Just come dressed comfortably.

For those curious, we have several of our older-juniors playing in Senior Grand Finals, which is why we cover the U12-16s first.

Presentations go ahead rain or shine (or hail, or heatwave) as we will be undercover.

As always there will be a free BBQ and the Speed Gun will be operating to test your bowling, and you will be able to collect your team photos!

Representative selection trials

Trials for next season are fast approaching. Details are:

U10s to U12s Boys & U13 to U15 Girls

  • When: Sunday 18 March 2018
  • Where: Action Indoor Sports, Mt Ku-ring-gai
  • Times:
    • U12 – 9.00 am to 11.00 am
    • U11 – 11.30 am to 1.30 pm
    • U10 – 2.00 pm to 4.00 pm
    • U13 & U15 Girls – 4.00 pm to 5.30 pm.

U13 to U16 Boys

  • When: Sunday 25 March 2018
  • Where: Action Indoor Sports, Mt Ku-ring-gai
  • Times:
    • U13 – 9.00 am to 11.00 am
    • U14 – 11.30 am to 1.30 pm
    • U15 – 2.00 pm to 4.00 pm
    • U16 – 4.00 pm to 5.30 pm

Rising Stars off-season Coaching Program (U12 to U15)

This Rising Stars Coaching Program is expected to be in high demand again this year, after our similar Specialist Coaching Program sold out in advance in 2015, 2016 & 2017, with great feedback. Checkout the following link: here

Details are:

  • When – Sunday: 29 April, 20 May, 3 June, 24 June
  • Time – 9.30 to 2.30 pm with dedicated sessions on pace bowling, batting, spin and w/k
  • Cost – $120 for a specialist skill (e.g.; batting); $200 for 2 skills (e.g.; batting and spin bowling)

Who is this aimed at?

These are advanced coaching sessions for Girls and Boys at Representative standard and stronger Club players.

The Coaches’ Association has built up an excellent reputation for delivering quality coaching programs with experienced coaches and small Coach/Player ratios, which provide more individual coaching.

The Coaches’ Association will also be conducting a separate Junior Rising Stars coaching program for U/9 – U/11 players (details will be finalised and distributed shortly).

Pink Stumps day

Our Annual Pink Stumps Day, run by our U9s, was held on Saturday. Congratulations to Ratna and his Team who did an outstanding job.

 Weekend results – Sixers League

U13s

WPHC 9/92 lost to Thornleigh Perry 5/99 – bowling first we kept Thornleigh to a competitive score in their 20 overs. Maeve McAllister was our best bowler with 2/2 from her 2 overs. Amy Ravaillion got 1/9 from her overs.

In the batting we gave this a great shot finishing at 9/92 to just miss out. Details will be updated when they are received.

U15s

WPHC 4/73 defeated Epping 71 – a great win for the Girls. Batting first we got 73 in our 20 overs. Scores will be updated once the scorecard is available. We bowled brilliantly with our Girls bowling out Epping in 17.5 0vers. Bowling details will be available once the scorecard is updated.

U17

WPHC Vs Bye – no game this week and with the Girls missing out on the Finals this ends the season.

Seniors

Grand Final

And then there were 2. Congratulations to our Two Teams who made it through to the Grand Final to be played next Saturday and Sunday:

  • B2 (Red) Vs Normanhurst-Warrawee
  • D2 Vs Hornsby

The last time we won these Competitions were:

  • B2 – 2014/15 under Justin Paterson’s captaincy
  • D2 – 2006/07 (Rob McBrien).

Semi Finals – Day 2

Best performances from the Semi-Finals came from:

  • Ryan Gunn (13*) and Aaron Hawkins (13*) in B2 batting for 38 overs to get us into the Grand Final
  • Peter Lees took his first wicket (1/9) in 20 years
  • Ben Kinchington (D2) got the highest score of the Round with 59
  • Ian Williams (D2) brought up his 50 in the Semi Final
  • Amit Sen (C3) was our best bowler in the Semi’s with 4/30.
