Highlights

Lots happening this week. Here goes:

  • BlowFly cricket started at James Henty on Friday – read the details below plus the Photo Gallery has been updated
  • 1st Grade (A1) won the T20 Grand Final last Sunday – details in the Match Report section
  • In Junior Boys we had the best partnership in any Grade across the Association when our U13 Blue Team put on 116* – well done to Akash Krishnamoorthy & Yash Shivpuri – see below
  • In Seniors:
    • We have already had 2 win son Day 1
    • Dinesh De Silva (B2) brought up his 3,000th career run

T20 1st Grade Grand Final

Congratulations to our 1st Grade T20 Premiers with a comfortable win Vs Berowra in Sundays GF. The Match Report Section has a match report of the game where Phil Wurth (93) and Ashane De Silva (53) were magnificent.

Blowfly Cricket – underway

Day 1 of BlowFly Cricket started on Friday (26th October) night between 6.00 pm and 7.30 pm after a lengthy wet spell. The night was a great success. Check out our Photo Gallery to get a view about Blowfly is all about.

A big thank you to the many folk involved in making Blowfly become a reality. Mark Rushton, the BlowFly ‘God Father’, Bill Peterkin, our driving force plus great support from Mike Kinchington (D2 Captain and Ground Manager), Alex Robertson (A1). Andrew Miedler (Club President), Jane Bish (Manager of Anything that needs to be done).Let’s not forget the important people – our Blowfly cricketers and their wonderful families.

Blowfly Cricket gives young people aged between 5 and 25 years with autism, cerebral palsy and down syndrome the chance to play competitive sport. It also gives families the chance to be involved and enjoy seeing their children having fun and just enjoying life – check out the website link to find more information – here

Girls Cricket

The Girls Comp got underway on Saturday with the first game in the Spring Competition. The results are listed. Outstanding Individual achievements will be updated as scorecards are updated.

U13s

WPHC 0/95 defeated Thornleigh 7/94 – match report to follow once details are received.

U15s

WPHC Red 1/131 defeated Thornleigh 58 – match report to follow.

WPHC Blue 6/72 lost to Castle Hill 6/74 – match report to follow.

Seniors

Training

Training has been running since the season start but with Daylight savings now in place it becomes more of an option for people to turn-up who have work or other commitments. Details are:

  • Wednesday @ John Purchase from 4.30 pm
  • Friday @ WPH Sports Club nets also from 4.30 pm.

Now that the season is underway for everyone, our ‘Photo of the Month’ Competition is underway. All photos are loaded on the website with the best Photo chosen to win a fabulous prize – a $50 dinner voucher at Bistro WPH – www.wphsportsclub.com.au/bistro

To is easy to enter:

  • Just take a photo of anything to do with our Club – Kanga, Girls, Boys and Seniors
  • The photo can be of our players batting, bowling or fielding
  • Also, we are keen to get any ‘quirky’ photos that are a bit of fun.
