News – 5th to 11th February 2017

Extreme temperatures this coming weekend

This coming weekend has predicted temperatures of over 40 degrees. The Association Policy in these conditions is:

Juniors

…..Batsmen can retire and then return later, extra AND LONGER drinks breaks IN THE SHADE…(say every 45 minutes – the time extension to 12:45pm allows for it). Wicketkeepers only require a properly fitted mouthguard….helmet is only recommended. HKHDCA Suggestions are: umpires with drink bottles in each pocket, drink bottles around the ground so that fieldsmen can take it in turns to field at the water bottles, continually rotate players, HATS, bowl only half their alloted “spell” overs in a spell, etc. MAKE SURE THEY SPEND THEIR OFF THE FIELD TIME IN THE SHADE.

Seniors

4.6 EXTREME HOT WEATHER In the case of extremely hot weather, both teams must report to the ground for their match where a decision shall be made by both captains and/or Umpire(s) as to whether play shall proceed. In the case of disagreement, the match shall proceed with extra drink breaks being taken. Normal playing conditions apply (ie. the same rules which apply for wet weather).

Make sure players have lots of breaks and above all, use common sense.
