News – 27 February 2022

Thank you & congratulations to our Semi Finalists

While wet weather stopped most games on Saturday combined with the pandemics and La Nina we got there. This is an amazing achievement by everyone associated with our Club and Association Leadership.

The only ‘comparable’ period in our history for complexity about getting on the field was between the war years when no competition was run between 1942 and 1945.

Well done.

While Finals glory is special, the amazing contribution from everyone in our Club to complete a largely uninterrupted season is the best result of the season. So well done and thank you to every Team and support crew that played this year irrespective of where you came in the Competition table.

Coaching Masterclass ‘Monday’s’

Over the coming weeks Cricket NSW will be running a series of online Masterclasses targeting coaches in working in Community and Premier Cricket.

The Masterclasses will be run on Monday evenings, where Jay Lenton will be sitting down and chatting to former and current players, discussing their insights on coaching. These players have not only experienced coaching at the highest level as a player, but have also started to forge their own path into coaching at the youth level. These sessions will provide coaches with wonderful insights into the minds of the player’s specific craft and methods they have begun to use in transferring their learnings to coach the next generation.

Details:

  • First MasterclassMonday February Feb 28
  • Starting time – 5.30pm and will go for approx. an hour on Microsoft Teams
  • First guest – will be former Australian and NSW Blues cricketer, spinner Stephen O’Keefe.

Blowfly Cricket support

Channel 10 – The Project story

Check out the News report during the week on Channel’s 10 ‘The Project’ –here from about 1:43 secs.

Volunteer support

One of our great achievements is to setup and run a Blowfly Cricket program for our young people with autism. Bill Peterkin and Mike Kinchington have our on the ground leaders who have seen Blowfly cricket develop into an important part of our Community.

Bill is now also involved with his son’s MasterBlasters cricket and Mike is going to live on the South Coast in the New Year. So we need to start planning succession.

This is an early shout out for someone who can be at James Henty Oval on Friday nights between 6.00 pm and 7.30 pm to just be present and to supervise the program that pretty much runs itself.

If you are interested in making a difference to the lives of people with disability and their families, then think about becoming involved. So if you want to make a difference and can set aside 90 minutes on a Friday night for a rewarding experience then think about this wonderful opportunity.

To find out more, without any commitment, contact Bill Peterkin on here or 0488 110 942.
