News – August 2018

2018/19 Registration

Online Registrations are open

Registration Day was held on Sunday 5th August for the 2018-19 season. You can Register now through our website here for:

  • Junior Blasters (Kanga) and formerly known at In2Cricket for 5 to 7 year olds
  • Juniors Boys
  • Junior Girls
  • Seniors

All registrations need to be made through our Club website except those using the $100 Active Kids voucher – see below.

Active Kids payment

For parents registering their children you can use the $100 Active Kids payment if it hasn’t already been used for Winter sports. If you want to access this payment then please register through here . If you want to buy a Club shirt or cap then this can be bought through the Club website.

Registration status

Junior Boys (U8s to U16s)

Registrations have again been strong and a reminder that once Teams reach a maximum of 13 players Registrations are closed and this will start happening soon. So if you haven’t registered then please give this priority to avoid disappointment

Junior Girls

We always welcome girls throughout the season but, like the Boys, to make sure that you have a chance of playing in a Team with your friends then please register quickly as Teams need to be finalised in 2 weeks.

Kanga (Junior Blasters)

Like the Girls, we welcome Kanga’s throughout the season. The issue though is that once Teams are put together it gets harder to group mates together so by registering as soon as possible your child gets to play with their friends.

Seniors

Registrations are taken throughout the year but Registrations after 8th September incur a $50 higher fee as the early bird discount ends.

Blowfly Cricket

This season we are starting up a wonderful initiative called BlowFly Cricket – check out the website link to find more information – here

This is a being run as a Chapter under Mark Rushton’s program at James Park Hornsby.

Blowfly Cricket gives young people aged between 5 and 25 years with autism, cerebral palsy and down syndrome the chance to play competitive sport. It also gives families the chance to be involved and enjoy seeing their children having fun and just enjoying life.

Registration Day

Details are:

  • When: Sunday 5th August 2018
  • Where: Oakhill Drive Public School
  • Time: 00 pm to 4.30 pm.

You are welcome to register on-line from early July and avoid having to come down to Oakhill Drive.

Registration Day is still popular with people who:

  • Try-on clothing (shirts) to get the right size before ordering
  • Parents of Kanga players especially come along to find out more about the season and what to expect

Next steps

The detailed results will be shared with our Club closer to the next season start when our various Committees will go through the results in more detail and then share the next level of results.

Pink Stumps Day wrap-up

Congratulations to Ratna Siva and his U9 Team for raising just on $9,000 for the McGrath Foundation. Tracey Bevan, who heads-up the McGrath Foundation, has sent us a special YouTube thank you note. This can be viewed on – here

To quote Tracey:

“We are enormously grateful to you and everyone else involved for giving your time so generously to hold a Pink Stumps Day, so from the bottom our hearts thank you very much. With your help, our 119 McGrath Breast Care Nurses all across Australia will be able to continue changing lives of Australians experiencing breast cancer.”

Greenway Park upgrade funding approved

Success!

Through the combined effort of all the local sporting groups that use Greenway Park (AFL, Baseball, Cricket, Little A’s and Rugby League), Julian Leeser (our Federal Member) announced $2.7m in funding. This includes $1.6m for a Community Club House facility to be built on the grass bank between Greenway Park 1 and 2 Ovals and $1.1m upgrade to the Ovals.

Club House

The Clubhouse will be a large facility with a veranda on both sides of the building, open community space and meeting rooms, air conditioning, large TV, undercover storage for gear and a display area for Trophies and Awards. Players and supporters will be able to sit on the veranda and watch the games.

Oval upgrade

The Oval upgrade will see Greenway Park widened, seating installed on the Hill and we are also looking at specific improvements to the cricket facilities. These include:

  • Nets being rebuilt as they would need to be demolished as part of the ground widening
  • Our ‘wish’ includes a turf wicket, electronic scoreboard and lighting sufficient to use the nets at night

We are also meeting with CNSW to see what additional support they can provide to help make Greenway Park into one of the best cricket facilities in North West Sydney.

This is a great outcome and will be ready for the 2019/20 season. More info follows – here

TeamApp

TeamApp will again be used this season in all Grades. This allows communication between Teams, updates scores and provide immediate updates on weather.

We deleted most existing members so that distribution lists can be refreshed once Teams are selected closer to the season start. Stay tuned for more info on this important communication tool
