Women’s Social Smash – starting soon

Great news about the highly successful Women’s Social Cricket Smash starting up again in the New Year. Details are:

  • When:                    Wednesday 1 February 2023
  • Where:                   Mark Taylor Oval, Waitara
  • Time:                     6.00 pm to 7.30 pm
  • Cost:                      $70 for 7 weeks

What is the Social Smash

For those new to this concept it is as much about having a game of cricket with other women in a safe and non-judgemental environment as it is about laying out a blanket on the ground after the game and sharing a glass of wine and nibbles with friends and new found friends without having to rush home.

What happens next?

Movember

This year, WPHCCC is actively supporting the Mo-vember initiative to raise funds for Men’s Mental Health.

On Saturday 26th November we ask that players/parents make a donation to this cause and then wear a mo  (to be provided) whilst playing their matches, or at least have a team photo afterwards. Parents are invited to join in the fun too.

Please send your team photos to Ross: Ross email link

Personal achievements

The PlayHQ issues are making the tracking outstanding performances that little bit more difficult but we had some good ones on the weekend:

  • In one of the slowest season starts to our century makers list we had the double in D2 Grade. Well done to:
    • Ray Howard with 127* (our 503rd ton) & Brahadesh ‘Ram’ Ramamurthy (D2) who scored 100* (our 504th ton)
    • the boys also put on 188 for the 6th wicket. Not a record but a great performance
  • Michael Richards (A1) took 6/13 from 14 overs. While not a record, it is the best bowling performance by an A1 Grade bowler since Sol Tomlinson took 7/26 Vs Kenthurst on 1 November 2014
  • Steve Quanborough (D1 Red) scored 30 * in 56 overs and was well supported by Parin Pillamarri (14*) in 25 overs to steer the Team through avoiding a potential outright loss.

Sunday Games

The schedule for Sunday matches, up to & including Rd 8 (18/12/2022) are:

Round Date Grade
6 20/11 & 27/11 C2
7 4/12 & 11/12 C1
8 18/12 B2

Round highlights
