Ground Changes

The Association has advised (13/10) of ground changes due to wet weather for the weekend:

A Grade

WPHC Blue (Campbell) Vs ARL has been moved from The Glade to Bannockburn Oval

C Grade

WPHC Vs Berowra has been moved from Headen Park to Arcadia Oval.

 WPHC Academy & Skills Clinics

Our acclaimed Academy and Skills Clinics are soon to kick-off. Details are:

Boys Academy

  • Starting: Wednesday 19th October 2022 and then each week until 7th December
  • Finishing: 9th February2023 after resuming 2nd February
  • Time: 00 pm to 6.30 pm
  • Where: John Purchase Public School
  • Cost: $225 for 10 sessions – amazing value

Girls Academy

  • Starting: Wednesday 19th October 2022 and then each week until 7th December
  • Finishing: 9th February2023 after resuming 2nd February
  • Time: 00 pm to 6.30 pm
  • Where: John Purchase Public School
  • Cost: as above

Key items

  • The Academy is run over 10 weeks (8 x sessions before Christmas & 2 x sessions after the break)
  • Numbers are capped:
    • 30 for the Boys
    • 10 for the Girls
  • Our Coaches will be Premier First Grade + First Class / WBBL players + our own accredited and experienced players. They are among the best coaches available in the District.

Skills sessions

We will also be running our very popular free Skills Sessions for Master Blasters to U13’s + Girls Stages 1, 2 & 3.

More details will follow on this one but this is an initiative that targets both the players and Coaches to help them build their Coaching skills. In brief though, key points are:

  • When: Monday’s starting 5.00 pm to 6.30 pm
  • Where: John Purchase Public School
  • Who can attend: all players from Master Blasters to U13 + Coaches
  • Cost: $ Nil

Cricket Central – net hire

With what looks like another La Nina affected summer, you may want to think about getting an indoor net session to keep your players in some sort of form and add a bit of excitement to not being able to play. The new Cricket Central complex at Silverwater is open and has a massive indoor cricket net facility that can be hired. Details are:

  • Send an email to bookings@cricketnsw.com.au with your request.
  • Our CNSW staff will be able to action the booking request and assist you to find a suitable time and date.
  • The pricing is done per hour and per net. The price guide is below:

Cricket NSW latest

Blast Training Session

CNSW is running a Blast Coordinator training session where all within HKHDCA are invited and encouraged to attend. This training is aimed at all experience levels involved in delivering Blasters packages. Details are:

  • Date – Wednesday 12 October 2022.
  • Time – 6pm to 7pm.
  • Location – Thornleigh West Public School (Giblett Avenue, Thornleigh).
  • Cost – Free.

Cricket Central – net hire

200 Women in Cricket – invitation

A Cricket NSW initiative, led by the amazing Julie Stafford, has set-up a network of amazing women doing great things across NSW. To quote Julie:

“We’d like to harness these collective experiences by creating a network of “Wicket Wisdom”  – to share best practice, tips and tricks and resources. We’ll host short videos, create resources, and share your great ideas to help us all make a difference at your Club or Association.

Registrations remain open all season for the Blowfly, Junior Blasters & Master Blasters as these are non-competition program.

All other Registrations close once caps are reached in each Age Division, including Seniors.

Registrations

There are 4 x formats for Girls and the details are below:

  • Junior Blasters – girls & boys aged 5 to 7 years of age – Saturday morning
  • Stage 1(a) – Master Blasters (Girls Only who are new to cricket)
  • Stage 1 (b) Sixers Girls Cricket – Saturday afternoon (1.00 pm)
  • Stages 2 & 3 – Sixers Girls Cricket League Saturday afternoon

Season format

In summary:

  • Round 14 – 17th December  with a 5-week break over Christmas / New Year
  • Round 15 – starts again on Saturday 28th January with 5 weeks of normal Comp games
  • Semi Finals – Saturday 4th and 11th February 2023
  • Grand Final – Sunday 12th March 2023

Normally we would highlight every week the standout achievements from each Saturday. Unfortunately, with a few systems bugs with PlayHQ we can’t identify individual highlights without going through each scorecard. So until this bug is fixed we can’t provide this update.

T20 World Cup – ‘Squads’ initiative

The Men’s T20 World Cup kicks-off on 16 October and runs until 13 November. In brief:

  • 45 matches played across Adelaide, Brisbane, Geelong, Hobart, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney
  • Australia drawn with New Zealand, England and Afghanistan in addition to two teams who get through from Round 1
  • Final to be played at the MCG on November 13
  • First time Australia have ever hosted the pinnacle men’s event for T20 cricket

Cricket Australia has set up a great initiative called ‘Squads’. This is an initiative where people supporters for each of the participating countries can be part of a national supporters group. To find out more check out the following links:
