Our Dual Representatives
On Tuesday 20/1/2026 the Australian U19s played Japan in a World Cup Pool game at Windhoek, Namibia.
For the first time in our history, we had 2 of our Juniors play for an Australian side in the same game. Thinking about it, to have 2 x U19 players in the top 11 Australian players in the country from our Club is an amazing achievement.
How did they go?
Will opened the bowling and took 2/32 from 10 overs and Naden finished with 3/31 off 10 overs.
In the next game against Sri Lanka (23/1) Will took 5/14 from 6.3 overs – watch this spot!

King of the Tossers
We have a proud history of Tossers within West Penno. Despite what you may think, these are our Seniors Captains who have mastered the art of losing the toss at the beginning of the match.
Last weekend, Agniva Chakraborty (C2 Blue) became our new ‘King Tosser’ (KT for short) after losing his 18th consecutive toss that started in the 2024/25 season. Using simple Probability theory, this equates to a 1:262,144 probability or a 0.0003815% chance of this occurring.
So, what is Agniva’s reaction to this amazing achievement:
“This surely makes me feel special. Fortunately Chintan is back this weekend, so I will have to wait for my luck to turn the tides.”
If Agni can extend this to 19 consecutive tosses the probability extends to a 1:524,288 chance or a 0.00019% chance.

To put this in an historical context, he has passed some outstanding Tossers.
Greg Fiedler (A1 1988/89)
In 1988/89 season, Greg lost every A1 Grade toss (14) during a wet season when no covers were used. Towards the end of the season, the openers (Ross Anderson & Andrew Fiedler), on seeing a wet wicket (Storey Park), padded up before the toss. Greg didn’t let anyone down, he lost the toss. WPHCCC batted and were fielding soon after.
Simon Smyth (A2 2004/05)
In 2004/05, Simon just missed the 14 straight losses record. In Simon’s own words:
“I think my reaction at the time (both hands aloft punching the air) said how relieved I was to actually win a toss! As they say, personal records are fantastic, but it’s the team that counts” – what a team man.
After winning a toss after 13 attempts Simon backed up in Reps the next day and lost again. His final achievement – 20 out of 23 tosses lost – a record for overall losses in one season.
Rob Knapman (D1 2014/15)
In the 2014/15 season, Rob also excelled – winning only 2 from 17. On 30 January 2015, Rob decided to hand over coin toss duties to Stu Fiedler. Stu had plenty to say about the intricate art of coin tossing. Needless to say, Stu came up with the goods.

BBL Crowd Catches
There must be something about West Penno players taking catches at BBL games this season.
First, on 17th December, we had Meet Vyas(B2) at the SCG when he took a fantastic Crowd Catch off Jack Edwards with ball.
Then at the BBL Elimination Final, again at the SCG, enter Dan Fagg (B1 Red) who took another stunner. So….that’s for our Club this season.
