Child Protection

Cricket Australia and Cricket NSW has an ongoing commitment to Child Safety and Child Protection. In 2022, CNSW released updated policies on the continuing commitment of the Australian Cricket Community to child protection and welfare – the links are above. Our Club endorses these policies.

Child Protection is important to our Club. Everyone has a responsibility to say something if they see anything that is inappropriate. Policies and practices also empower our young people on how to respond to inappropriate behaviour and know where to go to if they need help.

Member Protection Information Officer

Further demonstrating our commitment to Member protection, we have appointed an accredited MPIO. This roles is in place to:

“A Member Protection Information Officer (MPIO) provides information about the rights, responsibilities and options available to an individual making a complaint in sport. They can also inform and advise sport administrators and complaint handlers in Member Protection Policy for specific sports. MPIOs are impartial and don’t mediate or investigate complaints.”

Working with Children accreditation

In addition to our Commitment to the accompanying Child Protection policies our Club makes it mandatory for all Committee Members, Team Managers, Team Coaches and Seniors Captains to have a current Working with Children (WWC) accreditation.

In addition to obtaining a WWC Accreditation number we require our Team Managers, Coaches & Senior Captains to complete the Play by the Rules on-line training course (takes 20 minutes) – here
