This Code of Conduct sets the expected standards of behaviour for every Player, Coach, Volunteer, Parent, Guardian and Supporter representing our Club (WPHCCC). It is based on our Club Values and applies on and off the field, at training, matches, events and online.
Preamble
The Code links our Values to ➡️ minimum expected standards ➡️ behaviours and ➡️ accountabilities.
☂️ Playing for WPHCCC means that we play for one great Club and not an Individual Team.
1. Respect 🤝
All Members are expected to:
- Treat teammates, opponents, umpires, officials, volunteers and supporters with respect and courtesy
- Use positive, supportive language at all times
- Always accept umpiring decisions without dissent
- Contribute to an environment where everyone feels safe, welcomed and valued
- Protect the reputation of the Club through respectful behaviour in person and online
- Unacceptable behaviours include:
- Abuse, intimidation, harassment (including online), discrimination, exclusion or disrespectful language
- Public criticism (e.g.; Social Media) of players, coaches, umpires or the Club.
2. Participation Over Results 🎯
All Members are expected to:
- In Junior cricket, support shared opportunity for all players, based on opportunities over a full season
- Encourage effort, learning and enjoyment over winning
- Celebrate success with class – we don’t belittle opponents
- Accept that cricket is a game, not a battle to be won at all costs
- Unacceptable behaviours include:
- Prioritising winning over participation, fairness or player development
- Pressuring children about performance or selection.
Coach & Volunteer Expectations
For Coaches & Volunteers in Junior Divisions (Blast, Juniors Mixed & Girls) our minimum expectations are that all children are given equal opportunity, assessed over a full sesaon, to be the best they can be.
3. Inclusivity 🧑🤝🧑
All Members are expected to:
- Welcome people of all backgrounds, abilities, genders and cultures
- Call out poor behaviour — because what we ignore, we accept
- For Junior Divisions (Blast, Juniors Mixed & Girls) promote a culture where effort, improvement and enjoyment are valued as much as high achievement
- Support an environment that encourages players to return each season
- Use social media to inform & support, not divide us
- Unacceptable behaviours include:
- Bullying, exclusion, discrimination or creating cliques
- Ignoring harmful or inappropriate behaviour
- Using Social media to divide and not support.
4. Development & Growth 🌱
All Members are expected to:
- Encourage learning, skill development and resilience at every stage
- Support coaches, volunteers and players to grow in their roles
- Provide constructive, age‑appropriate feedback to players
- Model behaviours that help others develop
- Unacceptable behaviours include:
- Undermining coaches or volunteers
- Discouraging players or creating fear of failure.
5. Teamwork & Club Spirit 🧡
All Members are expected to:
- Support teammates, coaches and volunteers
- Demonstrate Club pride in behaviour, appearance and attitude
- Contribute to the Spirit of volunteering and helping others
- Put the team and Club ahead of individual interests
- Unacceptable behaviours include:
- Self‑centered behaviour that undermines team cohesion
- Refusing reasonable requests to assist the Team or Club.
6. Our Legacy 🏆
All Members must:
- Act with integrity and uphold high standards on and off the field while wearing Club colours
- Represent WPHCCC positively in the community
- Leave a positive legacy – i.e.; leave our Club better than how it was found
- Unacceptable behaviours include:
- Conduct that damages our Club’s reputation
- Disregard for Club policies, facilities or volunteers
Accountability ⚖️
To protect our culture, Breaches of this Code or Club policies may result in:
- Verbal or written warnings
- Suspension from matches or training
- Removal from teams or Club activities
- Non‑renewal of membership
- Serious breaches may be referred to the Association or other authorities where the Law may have been breached
- Our Club reserves the right to act immediately where behaviour threatens safety, wellbeing or Club culture.
If Something Goes Wrong ⚠️
Players (Girls & Juniors Mixed)
If actions or behaviours are unsafe, unkind or against our Values:
- You may be asked to sit out for a short time
- Your parents may be spoken to
- You may miss part of a game or training if it continues
- We do this to keep everyone safe, happy and included.
Parents / Guardians / Supporters
Behaviour that is disrespectful, unsafe or against Club Values may result in:
- Initially, a private conversation with the Coach or Manager
- A request to step away from the field or training area
- Escalation to the Junior (Mixed) or Girls Director and ultimately our Club Executive Committee
- Suspension from Club activities for serious or repeated breaches
- We do this to ensure every player feels safe, supported and excited to return next season.
How to Raise a Concern 💬
Players / Parents / Guardians / Supporters
If you need to talk to anyone about behaviours or actions that concern you, or may be in breach of our Club Values:
- For Juniors (Mixed) & Girls, if your concern is about:
- Behaviours of Team Members or their Parents / Guardians or supporters – discuss it first with your Team Manager
- The way a Team is run e.g.; Club ‘Participation over Results’ being applied in action – discuss it first with your Age Convenor
- The way opposition Teams play the game – discuss it first with your Team Manager
- For Seniors (All Age):
- Getting a ‘fair go’ e.g.; selections / on-field opportunities – raise this with your Captain
- If further guidance is required, contact our Seniors Director.
Acknowledgement ✔️
Everyone who Registers as a Player, Juniors Manager / Coach& Seniors Captain is required to confirm that they have read and accept this Code as part of the National PlayHQ registration system. At registration this Code becomes a binding behavioural agreement.
