ABOUT THE RECORDS
How the club history was built
In the 1990s, David Carey and Ross Anderson undertook the enormous task of collecting old paper season summaries—known as “D-sheets”—into a single database: the Club Wisden. The information reaches back to 1946/47. Although records are missing for a handful of seasons, it provides a comprehensive history of the club’s runs scored and wickets taken.
Where possible, catches, overs, maidens and other statistics were also collected, although the earlier records are less complete.
Ross also compiled lists of century scorers and seven-wicket hauls.
From 2010/11, full match results were entered into MyCricket, enabling more detailed statistics to be downloaded regularly. James Makin merged these records with the existing data and created a spreadsheet containing a full range of historical leaderboards.
In 2022/23, cricket moved to PlayHQ. While this exposed another level of detail, it also created another significant data-merging exercise.
In 2026, this webpage was created, reinvigorating the old spreadsheet tables and making the club’s statistical history easier to explore.
