6,000 runs
Congratulations to Peter Lees (D1 Red) who scored his 6,000th career run on the weekend!
Peter, who is already a Hall of Fame Member is now just the 7th player in our history to reach the 6,000-run milestone. To look at this another way, we have had just over 9,000 Seniors players since 1930 so this puts him among the 0.08% of run scorers of all-time!
Peter is now just 125 runs off Eric Junkkari’s tally and 360 runs off Greg Fiedler’s runs that would move him into the top 5 run scorers of all-time.

Well done Peter on this great achievement.

9 Bowlers & 9 wickets
Last Saturday, our C2 Blue (Chintan) side were playing the Sydney Lions. Batting first we scored a solid 9/268. Our turn to bowl and the boys rolled the Lions fore 230.
What is amazing though is that we used 9 bowlers and each bowler took 1 wicket.
The only wicket not to fall was a runout. However, the wicket keeper who is credited with this wicket would make this 10 players involved in the total wicket taking effort.

Our latest addition is from James Makin’s (A1 and our Seniors Director) famous original that he has worn continuously since debuting in 1989/90, direct from Arizona – The Grand Canyon. To quote from James:
“Here’s a hat shot to add to your collection. At the Grand Canyon, which is almost as old as the hat :).”

This Gallery is open to everyone who has West Penno colours of any type. So if you are travelling, send a photo through to Ross Anderson
Record Semi Final appearance looming
With one Round to go, our Seniors are on the cusp of setting a new Club record for the number of Teams making the Semi-Finals.
The current record goes back to 2020/21 when 9 of our 13 x Senior Teams made the Semi Finals. One Team (C1) missed out by just 0.014 of a quotient-point. 6 of these Teams made the GF and we had 3 x Premiers.
In 2016/17, 8 of our 10 x Teams made the Semi Finals with 4 Grand Finalists and 2 Premiers:
This season, with one Round to go, we can already lock in 7 x Teams:
- A1 – Cam (#25)
- B1 Red – Todd
- B1 Blue – Prats
- B2 – John
- C4:
- Red – Ravi
- Blue – Rob
- D1 Blue – Roger
Add to this list:
- C1 – Aniket, currently 2nd but need to win against the 7th placed Team
- C2 Blue – Chintan, currently 5th and if they beat the 4th placed Team this Round they qualify
- C3 – Karl currently 4th and just need to win against the 2nd placed Team to lock in a spot
- D1 Red – Diggers who need to win their last 3 games
- D2 – Ross S, currently 5th with a Bye. If 4th placed lose against the top Team we will qualify.
Good luck!
