No Guts, No Glory
Last week we did a summary of our wicket keeping records across all Grades.
Spare a thought for Campbell (FAC = Future A Grade Captain) Wallace who kept wicket for A1 while filling in for Billy Gaunt who is doing it tough on holidays overseas..
Anyway, last week (Day 1 Round 4) was a tough day in the Office at Berowra Oval with the ball keeping low and falling just short of the ‘keeper.
Add to this one of the best fast bowlers in A1, Jack Hando was operating and it was a nightmare to keep wickets with Campbell throwing his body around to stop the ball. At one stage, he commented that he should be wearing a thigh pad next time.
The theme music for this gutsy fielding effort is by none other than Chumbawamba – Tubthumping
The photo below shows why.

While on Campbell
While on A1, they are now joint Competition leaders and have yet to be bowled out after 4 Rounds. This week they finished at 4/220 and now have a quotient of 3.542 – 2nd only to Hornsby D2 with 5.570. While this is a great Team performance spare a thought for quality batters who can’t even get to face a ball.
Top of the list is #7 batter, Campbell Wallace.
Campbell is one of the best juniors we have produced in many years. He also has a high score of 176* and has Captained A2 with distinction. The photo below is after his C1 3rd wicket Club partnership record of 259 runs with Matt Schwartzel.
The good news is that our batting depth is so strong we are building towards a strong defence of our Premiership.

Exciting to know
One of the best things about playing for West Penno is the chance to go back to the Sports Club after a day’s play and to enjoy our Team mates company and in some cases rewriting what actually happened.
After the D1 Red washout on the weekend the boys went back to the Club and unfortunately sitting next to Parin just became too much for Bharga.
What better theme music for this photo than the Wiggles classic – Wake up Jeff

Nice touch
Well done to both the West Penno C4 Red and Kissing Point Teams on Saturday who observed a minutes silence before the game to pay tribute young Ben Austin who was unfortunately hit by a ball at cricket training during a Club training session.
Well done boys.
