Congratulations Bill Peterkin – Blowfly Cricket Life Member
BP is a Club Legend. A Club Life Member (#22), long-term player, Club Executive Member and now Blowfly Cricket Life Member.
Blowfly Cricket gives young people with autism, special needs &/or disabilities the chance to play organised sport. It also gives families the chance to be involved and enjoy seeing their children having fun and just enjoying life.
BP has been our Director of Blowfly since 2019 and is the reason we offer Blowfly Cricket to our people.
Well done BP!

Our latest Australian Representative
Congratulations to our latest Australian Representative – Christina Phillip. Christina is a long-term West Penno player for our Girls, is a member of our Club Executive responsible for Child Protection, Diversity & Inclusion and also currently coaches one of our Girls Stage 3 Teams.
Our Seniors players may also recognise Christina as the cousin of Matt Phillip who played A2 for us and holds the current 10th wicket Association record partnership of 101 scored in our 2012/22 Premiership winning side.
Christina has just arrived back from Japan after representing Australia in the ’45th Shidokan Open International’ Karate World Championships. Representing Australia is one thing but to come home with a Bronze medal is amazing and to be ranked in the top 3 in the World is amazing!
Check out our Photo Gallery of all of our Australian Representatives
Well done again Christina – we are all very proud of you.

Space Cadet

First – our theme music for this prestigious award – Rocket Man
There is something special about young players being asked to do something to help – like putting out the boundary markers when they just get up and do it without any complaints.
The following photo was taken shows Sarthak Khatri (D1Red) proudly putting out the boundary markers at Campbell Park.
The enthusiasm is great. The problem occurred in the execution.
To be fair to Sarthak though, he put them out where our D1 Blue boys (pictured) asked him to so proper recognition should also go to the Blues.
The photo says it all.

Ouch!
Last weekend (15/11), our U14 Purple side had one of those days to remember scoring 1/85 in just 9 overs to easily win a T20 game. This Team is also a Champion side, leading the Comp with a gap of 9 points on our Gold side that is coming 2nd.
Playing at John Purchase Oval, Samkit Shah, son of Chintan, our C3 Blue Captain, scored 52 not out in just 21 balls with 7 x 4’s & 3 x 6’s – 88% of the total runs scored. It didn’t stop there. He also smashed one 6 that landed in the car park and broke a car window!
Let’s not forget Zayd Etri who also took 5/20 in just 4 overs.

While on fast scoring
While on the Juniors Mixed, how about Sachin Dixit in the U14 Blue’s.
The guys were playing at NTRA and Sachin scored 55 retired no in just 15 deliveries with 7 x 4’s & 4 x 6’s – 94 runs. We don’t have detailed records for fast scoring in the Juniors but irrespective this is a special achievement.
Well done Sachin.

Travelling Man
How about Ravi Gunna (C4 Red Captain).
Last week (Sunday 9/11 to Saturday 15/11), Ravi was travelling in the US for work and visited 5 States in just 5 days – Dallas, Florida, Philadelphia, Chicago and Los Angeles!
If that wasn’t enough, Ravi arrived home at 9.30 am and was at his game at Montview Oval West (Hornsby) at 12.30 pm after being in the air for around 17 hours!
While in the US, Ravi also took time to take some photos for our Photo Gallery ‘West Penno Players around the World’ proudly wearing his West Penno Premiership cap – West Penno Colours Around the World
What better theme music that Willie Nelson’s – On the Road Again

Separated at Birth
The challenge is out to send in a photo of anyone in our Club – past player, current player, family member who has an uncanny resemblance to a celebrity.
A couple of weeks ago we had Dale Armstrong (1984/85 to 2001/02) and Merv Hughes.
This week we have Gus Greenhalgh (D1 Red) and Cameron Munster (Melbourne Storm).

If anyone has a doppelganger then send the photo through to be added on the website.
Banjo who?
Last weekend (15/11), one of our younger players in D1 Red was kindly scoring. One of our Senior players commented that the hand writing looked like ‘a thumb nail dipped in tar” – a line from Banjo Paterson’s famous ‘Clancy of the Overflow’
Another player had never heard of Banjo Paterson.
A Teammate then confidently volunteered that he either played the guitar or banjo.
For those of us who are not products of our current Education system, hopefully would know, Banjo Paterson is one of our most famous Bush Poets and songwriters – think of ‘The ‘Man From Snowy River’ for starters and of course – Waltzing Matilda (6.16 mins into the clip).
