Story

A day for Ducks
A great commentary from Peter Westerberg (D2) on the game Vs Berowra @ Northholm Grammar last weekend:

“For some years now there has been a colony of ducks on the dam beside the cricket ground at Northholm and, while not a superstitious person in general, I have long harboured a feeling that one day they would, metaphorically, come home to roost for us. Well, today was the day, with a grand total of three golden ducks in a spectacular middle order collapse that saw us slump from 1-35 to 7-37.”

History

In the 1890s, William Small and the brothers Horace and Fredrick Henstock first settled the land. William and Horace took violin lessons in Galston. This interest resulted in Frank Waddell to refer to the area they settled as ‘Fiddletown’. The name stuck but there are continuing efforts to change the name.

Our Association gained access to the School Oval in around 2002/03.
