WPHC (Cam #25) 1/48 Vs Kissing Point
We headed to Parklands for Round 6 against Kissing Point.
Chief weatherman J told us to expect plenty of inches.
There was also a fair bit of rain around this week. KP were diligent with covers and with every other A grade game off, we were on. K managed to lose another toss making it 6 in a row (a 1.56% chance Ju tells me) and after a good start to be 1/48, unfortunately rain ended the day.
Since there was nothing else cricket related to report please reminisce on one of my favourite match reports from last year – A1 Grand Final Match Report 2024-25

A2 Blue (Warren) Vs Castle Hill 5/248
On a dreary day for cricket, overcast and cool and with the Ashes Day 2 about to start we arrived at Fred Caterson for an important game with 5th place playing 4th.
Not a good start with the 6th lost toss in a row for us and Castle Hill deciding to bat.
Some really good bowling in the first two sessions saw us going into the tea break on top with the score 5/118.
Rohan was the star bowler taking 2 for 25 off 11 overs and dismissing both openers in quick succession. Tanay, Diggers and Alex each chipped in with a wicket a piece when their middle order threatened to get away.
It was a different matter after tea with an unbeaten 6th wicket partnership of 130 for Castle Hill.
We bowled well in parts after tea and didn’t stop trying but there were several tough dropped catches and some near chances and we were left rueing them at the close of play and thinking what could have been.
A2 Red (Todd) Vs Berowra
Washed out without a ball being bowled at Greenway Park. We play a 1-dayer next weekend.

WPHC (Prats) 1/18 Vs Glenorie 178
A warm welcome and hello to all long-term and new readers of the famed B1 match report, sit back relax and enjoy the tales of a what can only be described as a shout-out and vibes based Saturday
We made the long journey out to the Lord’s of the North-West Les Shore 1 (it’s got a slope) and were met with somewhat dry conditions but dark and gloomy overhead conditions…
Toss had been run and done and it’s yet another loss for our captain Burglar Prats… Rumours are swirling yet again that Dean “Old-Man” Carlin might become designated tosser, he’s pretty good at that
Nevertheless, WPHCCC got exactly what they were looking for as we were to have the ball in hand for the 4,729,731 weekend in a row
Opening up with a slight twist this weekend was Hot Take Watkins and newly promoted A2 player Jack “Better” Hutchinson on a 1-week loan deal to the clubs premier grade – B1
Despite some fantastic bowling the luck wasn’t going our way early with balls bouncing short and long of fielders and it was just looking like one of those days….
Not for B1 tho who lovvvvveeeeee taking wickets in clumps with back 2 back wickets, 1 each to our openers with Jack drawing a leave that ripped leg stump straight out of the ground
With a change of bowling Reyhan “Steve” Ahmed and Dean “Closer to 50” Carlin getting the red rock in hand and having it swinging and seaming plenty, the latter of which was going up the SLOPE….
And oh boy does our Old-Man love the slope so much that he decided this week to bowl at the stumps with quality, jagging a 2fa both of which bowled adding to his love and admiration for the Les Shore Hill
Noowww on to bowl was Bigggggggggggggggg Benny “Cash-King” Waldron who finally arrived at the ground after what can only be called an arduous journey coming from somewhere between woop woop & middle of fucking nowhere
Benny wasted no time getting into the game today with 3 wickets in relatively quick succession all of which ripped the stumps straight out of the ground, a performance worthy of maybe getting a wry smile out of the legendary father Pez Waldron… Club Legend!!
With Glenorie 7/150 and fighting their way back into the game it was time for 1 man to grab the ball and do his regular act….
Prats “Balaclava” Datar loves bowling at only the tail, it’s become his usual trope and our skipper channeled Ben Stokes with 2 wickets with balls that could be called absolute half tracker pies to pick up batsmen 9 and 10 before Reyhan “Ian” Ahmed managed to clean up the 1 set middle order batsmen for 49 knocking over GDCC for 179 in under 60 overs
Great toss to lose after all
With 9 overs remaining and our man Blissy off to Europe and probably chatting up stewardesses about him being #1 champion player
Aden “Macca’s Again” Hanich and Nic “Bonnie and Lily Visitor” Price opened the short innings in the very fading light and looked to get to stumps with no wickets and a chunk of runs taken out of the target
The mission failed with Pricey chipping 1 straight to mid-off, not his best contribution to the day but it was better than his 1-
handed attempt to pick the ball up $2 fine incoming
With stumps called and only 1 wicket down WPHCCC finish the day at Lord’s Shore 1 in the dominant position and in control of a win should they remember how to bat this game
Before we head off and everybody enjoy the work week and Travball sweeping the nation a few special SHOUTOUTS!!
– A big thank you to Australia’s banking partner Westpac (That’s Pac not Pak) Steve Ahmed should know all about it just ask him
– Rick “BDR” Turner after 6 rounds finally getting “Rey’s” name correct…. He’s both Ian and/or Steve and BDR managed to get it right… Maybe Rick isn’t a Boomer and he’s WOKE!
– Congrats to Nathan who’s only 21 in the coming days…. Don’t know how, he somehow looks like a man with 3 kids and a mortgage
– Lastly to us – B1 and its continuous love of bowling…. Across the past 6 weeks of cricket we’ve batted just 41.4 overs compared to 218.4 overs of bowling and questionable fielding – Any chance of a stick Prats
Now while we wait till Next Saturday I pray we are blessed with baking sunlight, mowed outfields and the ability to bat
Till Next Week!!

WPHC (Aniket) 0/55 Vs Hornsby 141
Sunday game. Match Report will be updated by Monday morning
The weekend weather had us all a little nervous, with rain predicted to put a damper on our Sunday game. Some of us even thought the weekend might be a write-off, but as it turned out, the weather gods showed us some mercy. Despite a morning downpour, the skies cleared by game time, and the sun was shining when it was time to play.
Ani won the toss and decided to bowl first, looking to take advantage of the slightly soggy outfield. Our bowlers started well, with the opening batsmen under pressure. We nearly had both of them out early, but a couple of tight umpire decisions, including a contentious caught behind and an early LBW in the batsman’s favour, went against us.
Runs weren’t easy to come by for Hornsby, but we struggled to make the breakthrough at first.
Mohan was the one to get us started, claiming the first wicket in the 23rd over. He followed that up with another and from there, wickets began to fall at regular intervals. The spinners really came into their own with Saurabh leading the charge. Saurabh finished with a match-changing 6 wickets for just 30 runs, while Mohan took 2/18, Mridul chipped in with 1/3, and Ani also grabbed a wicket, finishing with 1/16.

The highlight of the innings was definitely Saurabh’s sharp caught and bowled and his devastating spell of spin bowling.
In the end, we managed to bowl Hornsby out for 141 runs, which left us 18 overs to face before the close of play.
Ray and Vinod opened the batting for us and were solid throughout. They both looked comfortable and in control and despite some tight bowling from the opposition, they managed to score 55 runs without losing any wickets.
With the chase still on, we’re confident that we can wrap up the remaining runs and secure our second win of the season.
Looking forward to carrying the momentum into the second innings and finishing the job!

WPHC (Indranil) 4/187 Vs Kissing Point Blue
Key highlights:
– Vishnu Raman 74*
– Prashant Kumar 52*
– 5th wicket partnership 111* runs between Prashant and Vishnu.
It was an overcast afternoon at Auluba Oval, but the pitch and ground conditions were good enough to get the match underway on time. This clash was a battle to avoid the “wooden spoon,” with both sides still searching for their first win of the season.
Despite a slow start—neither team had a full squad ready by 12:55 pm—the game began with Kissing Point Blue winning the toss and sending WPH in to bat.
Opening the innings, newcomer Sohan Gowda showed resilience with a steady 14, while partner Divit fell early.
The highlight of the day came from Vishnu, who played a patient and composed innings, reaching his career-best score of 74 not out.
After the first drinks break, wickets fell, but Mason contributed a handy 20 before Prashant joined Vishnu at the crease. Post-tea, the pair accelerated, both reaching their fifties. Their partnership blossomed into an unbeaten 111-run stand for the 5thwicket, with Prashant on 52 not out when rain interrupted play.

With WPH at 4/187, the team will look to add a few more runs next week to set up a defendable total and hopefully break free from the run of four consecutive losses.

WPHC Blue (Chintan) Vs Mt Colah 3/95
The memories of last year’s gripping Final against Hornsby were still vivid as C3 Blue took the field, it made even more intriguing by the fact that Mt Colah was the same team that had represented Hornsby in that decisive clash.
The stage was set for another intense encounter, though the weather had other plans.
A steady drizzle before the match meant the pitch and outfield were wet, but the boys were determined to play cricket regardless. Spirits were high as Mt Colah won the toss and elected to bat first, backing themselves to set a challenging total despite the conditions.
Pritam and Manraj opened the bowling, charging in with a wet ball that offered just enough assistance. Pritam struck early twice clean bowling two top order batsmen with beautiful in swingers that cut sharply through the damp air. It was the perfect start for C3 Blue.
The momentum continued when Adi and Vikrant were introduced into the attack.
Both bowled with impressive control given the slippery conditions. The standout Mt Colah batsman, Shaan at No. 4, looked rock solid and played some exquisite strokes, seeming capable of anchoring the innings. However, Vikrant delivered the breakthrough clean bowling him and shifting the balance once more.
Rain returned, heavier this time, forcing an early tea break.
After some discussion, the teams agreed to continue despite the persistent drizzle. The ball became completely soaked and eventually lost its shape, making fair competition increasingly difficult. With safety and match integrity in mind, play was finally halted.
Mt Colah finished on **95/3**, and while the match was suspended due to rain, C3 Blue showed resilience, discipline, and skill in challenging conditions, signs of a team ready for whatever the season brings.
Hope the weather clears up on Day 2 of the game and gets us back into the game :-)
WPHC Red (Karl) 207 Vs Hornsby
C3 Red headed to Hornsby Heights for day 1 of round 6.
Toss won by WPHCCC and we elected to bat.
Due to the heavy rain overnight, only one end is being occupied for the game.
This was to the BIG UNIT at slips delight as he didn’t need to move an inch all day and Luke was burning more calories scoring!
Nick and James D opened the batting. The opening over sent made a statement with Nick defending solidly. Their second bowler had a different view of the pitch and decided to maximise his time with the ball. Xavier Tras was leading the scoring with every second ball a no ball.
Soon after James lost his wicket to the first good ball of the day and it was a rip snorter.
And then Jimmy proceeded to not trouble to scorers for the third time in a row after nicking off again
Will got to the crease and was very busy with his old man slowly building the score to get us out of a tricky situation with 2 for spit.
After the break, Nick decided to take it to the Hornsby District spinners. His eyes light up for a few fours but succumbed to a brilliant catch at mid wicket.
Special K entered with a drizzling rain. The weather didn’t dampen his spirits and he blasted a four every second ball, or so, quickly picking up a half century. Will D keeping the overs ticking over at the other end, facing 80 odd balls before popping one up to covers, ending a solid innings.
Calum entered the pitch promising his team he’d reverse sweep for four. Instead he started quickly with a few beautiful drives to kickstart his innings and continue the quick scoring of Will and Kristian’s partnership. Callum looked strong on the front foot up until a rush of blood to the head and handed it to mid on.
Dom join Kristian and gave the wicket keeper a couple of heart attacks. The run rate increased even more! Damon trying his hardest to jinx K but Dom was the recipient of the bad luck.
Wil P joined and it wasn’t long before Kristain was celebrating his first century and our 560th century. Well done and very well deserved!

The wickets then fell quickly, Wil, Paul and Kristan within 3 balls over 2 overs. Isaac followed shortly.
All out for 207.
Rain set in. We headed for the Club.

WPHC Blue (Rob) defeated on 1st innings Mt Colah 65
Nothing quite beats the Aussie summer!
Cold, overcast, drizzling, and a bone chilling breeze to really lift the spirits!
The toss went the way of Mount Colah, but that was about all that went their way today.
The opening pair of bowlers tore through the upper order, leaving them at 4 for 20 after 10 overs of play. An unfortunate wicket of chopped on, a brilliant ball taking middle stump, and 2 lovely catches saw their upper order in ruins.
A stable innings from the captain of Mt Colah steadied their fast-sinking ship, but he clearly didn’t bring any backup. The team fell around him, with a brilliant bowling display from our boys in blue. Wickets flew thick and fast, and the balls flying to our fielders didn’t stop either. A total of 7 catches between the whole team, and low economy stints by Mudi and Kaushal kept their score to a measly 65 all out.
A special mention to the other Tabone, Lance, who managed 8.3 overs and only going for 8 runs, topped off with 4 beautiful wickets.
Our batsmen came out swinging just as hard as the bowling attack, chasing down the required 65 runs in less than 15 overs.
Luke Tabone was doing Luke Tabone things, obliterating the ball to all sides of the field with ease, barely even breaking a sweat for 41.
Steve decided he wasn’t going to let Luke do all the work, hitting a quickfire 37 with shots so clean you’d think he’d just come out of the carwash.
It wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows unfortunately, the retirement of the pair led to a quick downfall of the rest of the team, with 6 falling in quick succession.
Our knight in shining armour Manu held the falling order together, scoring a lovely 28 before the day came to a close. The fight continues next week.
WPHC Red (Ravi) 2/50 Vs Thornleigh 159
Ah the joys of playing in the rain!
Ravi had a normal day in the office (read lost the toss) and was asked to bowl on a drizzling day.
Ravi started off the bowling and striked in the very first over, thanks to a sharp catch at the point by our fill-in star Lakshay. Tushar started off from the other end and kept things tight. He bowled a brilliant opening spell with ball thudding on to the keepers gloves consistently and no loose balls.
Ravi then got one to swing in and clean bowl the other opener. Vishnu came in as first change and kept it tight in a 3 over spell with a few close shaves.
Anant was introduced earlier to unleash some ripping leggies. Like with any leg spinner who has ever played this great game, Anant gave a rank long hop in the first over, only to reminisce the great Warne from 1999 semi final to clip the top bail with a batsman lunging forward in defence. Anant managed to break the bail and was duly gifted the broken piece as a souvenir.
The other leggie, Nirav was introduced at the other end and both of them got the Thornleigh batters in a knot.
Thornleigh broke the shackles by taking the attack to the spinners and an entertaining phase followed with every ball looking like bringing in something . Vishnu donned the keeping gloves after the break and soon a couple of stumpings followed, thanks to the leggies beating batsmen in flight, grip and turn.
After getting them down to 113/7 a flight back followed with the batsmen getting accustomed to the spinners and not taking any chances.
Ravi brought himself back to the attack and unsettled the batsmen with a change in pace and strategy. Nirav then opened one end with a wicket when the ball drifted in, taking the inside edge and clipping the leg stump bail.
Nirav soon striked again with a top edge from attempted sweep flying up and Anant holding on a clean catch at deep square leg.
Ravi then got one to tail in and got the tail ender trapped for a plumb LBW to cap things off.
Must say our leg spinners turned the game (excuse the pun) in Pennos favor by sharing 7 wickets among them and controlling the middle overs well.
Though the rain was relentless, it was never threatening enough to stop play for a long break. This meant our ball shiners had a field day to dry the ball with towels after almost every delivery.
Special thank you to Nirav, Jassi, Arindam, Anant etc who made sure ball stayed dry enough through the day.
With Thornleigh all out for 159 in 42.2 overs, there was enough time to bat around 24 overs in the day.
Jassi and Arindam walked out to open and Jassi was castled by an inswinging Jaffa.
Our fill in star Lakshay went in at number 3 and started positively, but was caught in slips by a sharp catch inches off the ground.
Arindam was, at the end, batting like a dream with well judged defence and stroke play, highlight being a back foot punch to point boundary. Rohit gave good company with his busy, well judged singles and couples to keep the score card ticking.
The day ended with West Penno at 50/2 with Arindam and Rohit at the crease.
Highlights of the day
- Nirav – 4/29
- Anant – 3/53
- Ravi – 3/38
Spin Twin (Nirav and Anant) claimed 7 wickets

1-Day games
WPHC Red (Diggers) 7/154 defeated WPHC Blue (Roger) 8/153
Wow, what a game! It all came down to the Red’s needing 2 runs off the last ball to win the game.
But let’s go back to the beginning.
It was an overcast day with the odd periods of drizzle and Campbell Park hosted the latest Sheep Stations Cup.
Captain Diggers and the old fox, Roger, tossed the coin and had many photos taken of the occasion.
Captain Diggers won the toss (surprisingly again) and elected to bowl. The only games we’ve won this season is when we chased, so the decision had some cred.
Parin (1/20) and Disco (1/16) opened the bowling as usual and bowled great tight lines and after their initial spell the Blues were 1/11 off the first 10 overs.
The first change saw Sarthak (2/34) and Buzz (1/29) continue to apply pressure and by drinks the Blues were struggling at 4/62.
After drinks Malinda (43) and Tej (56*) batted with strong intent and started to find the boundary.

Munish (2/27) and Tim (1/23) kept the wickets falling, but the partnership of Tej and Malinda with contributions from Vinod (18) and Shehan (10) enabled the Blues to get a defendable total 8/153.
Without Cliff and Ross, Captain Diggers (28 Ret n/o) opened the batting with Tim.
Unfortunately Tim and Gus both fell cheaply, which brought Grant (58) to the crease with Diggers. The pair batted beautifully, and at the drinks break the Reds were cruising at 2/79.
Diggers and Grant continued scoring freely after the drinks break and combined for a great partnership of 94 before Diggers decided to retire.
However shortly after Diggers retired Grant fell and the Blues started to take some valuable wickets, with Parin (3), Pete (15) and Kiran (1) all falling with Mahesh (2/24) and Pankaj (3/23) taking some valuable wickets and slowing the coring down.
With 5 overs to go the Reds needed a run a ball but with a few wickets still in hand.
It came down to the last over with the Reds needing 10 runs and Munish (24*) was batting with Kiran before he was run out.
This brought the last over specialist Sarthak (3*) to the crease with Munish and together they combined to chase down the runs, with Munish hitting the 2 runs needed on the last ball for victory.

The Sheep Station Cup is back with the Reds after a great game of cricket.

WPHC (Ross S) 208 Vs ARL 0/18
Damp conditions at Northolm Grammar. Skipper finally won a toss, no hesitation batting. ARL in second place us in 3rd just a couple of points behind so an important game.
A change in batting order today to ensure we mixed things around.
A new opening pair of Sandeep and Lachlan M getting us off to a steady start. Not many runs off the bat to start but plenty of sundries. The boundary peppered by Lachlan, before he got a savage bounce caught behind for 11. 1/28.
Enter Raymond who was looking great.
A huge 6 to start, and boundaries from Sandeep.
Partnership building before Raymond skies a catch to fine leg, 2/56. Muthindra in at 4 showing immediate intent. A six to get off the mark, closely followed by a boundary. Seems like a big innings to come but unfortunately a couple of balls later an inside edge onto the stumps out for 10. Sandeep remains resolute until 3 balls before the 20 over drinks a loss in concentration, caught for 17. At drinks 4/70, with Jaques and Gihan at the crease.
After the break Gihan and Jaques batting well together several boundaries and singles…score is moving along well, no chances given. Arl a little frustrated. A short one to Gihan, a savage hook shot, but for the third time this season straight to fine leg who takes the catch.
Gihan unlucky again, somehow finding the only player in an empty area of the field, and someone that can catch, out for 21. 5/109 and our innings a little shaky given most of the side has not batted for 5 weeks…never the less Jaques and Lachlan moved the score along both hitting a number of boundaries. In dark conditions Jaques is finally deceived by a full one, out for 31 our highest score of the day. 6/137 . A wicket just before the tea break…7/140. Congrats to Chris with his first seniors runs.
After the break, whilst Lachlan J and sundries moved the score along we did lose a couple of cheap wickets. 9/162 now a little disappointing after such a solid start and most batters getting off the mark.
Jake joins Lachlan for our 10th wicket. ARL looking to wrap things up, but both have other ideas.
These 2 guys should be so proud of themselves…to put things into perspective. T
his is Lachlan’s 1st year in Seniors having not played since u12s… then Jake….last season only scored 1 run across the whole season. Both have only batted twice so far this season each scoring 1 run.
These 2 guys batted 10 overs together including 6 against the opening bowlers. They put on 46 for the last wicket, just playing great cricket shots and running well. Partnership finally broken in the 55th over, Lachlan dismissed for 21. Jake at no 11, remaining 25 no….(his highest score in 5 seasons)… well done to both.
WPH dismissed for 208. Really pleasing we batted so long, with 53 extras helping our score.
12 overs to finish the day, but only managed 6 before play finished early as the heavens opened. Some near misses …..ARL 0/19.
Big thanks to Bhargav from D1 Reds for helping out today.
