Sports Club property update

The Sports Club has advised (21/9):

“This week, the Club submitted a Development Application to Hornsby Shire Council for the establishment of a new gym facility in the Under-croft of the Club’s main building.

This project represents the first significant step in our long-term strategy to diversify the Club’s operations and generate sustainable, non-gaming income that supports future growth and investment. Introducing a gym to our site not only makes great use of previously underutilised space, it also aligns with our broader vision to ensure that we can reinvest meaningfully into the core of the Club to improve our member offering.

This development is the first in a broader series of initiatives aimed at positioning the Club as a more inclusive, family-friendly and community-focused destination. Our strategic roadmap includes a vision to establish outdoor dining facilities, activated spaces for families and children, and a renewed commitment to supporting local creatives through the provision of live music and entertainment experiences.

The Board and Management remain focused on building a Club that not only meets the expectations of today’s members, but also positions it to thrive well into the future.”

2025-26 – main changes

Feedback received suggests artificial Byes are not popular. Too many playing days missed (especially in a wet season). So instead, one grade per round will likely play on a Sunday (excluding A1 and A2 and dependent on total number of teams nominated)

  • D1 Only – After receiving feedback D1 will be playing One Day matches only (including finals). Each team will play each other team 3 times (equally). This will be on a trial basis and further feedback will be sought before 26/27. This is a change to what was previously communicated, and we have reverted D2s for the 25/26 season to the same formats as all other grades.
  • C3 to D2 Only – These grades will adopt a rule similar to Mixed Juniors regarding total number of players that can participate in a match. The aim is to increase participation. Full detail will be provided prior to the season start.
    • Any number of players is okay
    • Any number can bowl
    • Any number can bat
    • 10 wickets per innings
    • 11 max on the field.
    • Time off the field rule waived
    • Teamsheet still required.
  • A Grade Only – as suggested by the A Grade forum, we will be holding an A Grade One Day final on the Sunday prior to Semi Finals. The two highest ranked teams in One Day matches only (played through the season) will play off for One Day champion. Again, more details to come prior to the season start.
