Petition to improve grounds in Baulkham Hills Shire Council

The Hills Council have started a petition that in part is aimed at securing more funding for the shortfall of fields in their Council region. The campaign is hoping to secure 20,000 signatures so that the issue is debated in parliament.

They have identified a funding gap where 31 fields are fully or partially funded and 9 fields with no funding. Partial funded grounds within our association include:

  • Castle Hill pony club (3 fields)
  • Holland Reserve expansion (3 fields)
  • Caddies creek stage 2 (4 fields)

The Association’s Junior competition last year was at full capacity, and the senior competition required 7 grades to have a bye due to their being more teams than ground availability.

Women’s Metropolitan Competition – New

Exciting News with CNSW announcing that they are establishing a new female cricket pathway’s competition for 2025-26. CNSW has advised:

“This competition is aimed at bridging the gap between local cricket and NSW Women’s Premier Cricket, increasing opportunities for female cricketers to play traditional cricket and leading to stronger player pathways and retention.

The competition will be open-age (U16 & Over) to allow maximum coverage and make it easier for clubs to expand and progress their female playing pool, importantly removing the ‘age group dead-end’ that currently exists in many areas. The competition is open to all clubs with a mix of 20 & 30 over games.”

Next steps

More information will follow but if you are 17 years and older and want to play competitive cricket (T20 / T30) and not Premier Grade cricket then this is a great option to start thinking about for you and your friends.

Stay tuned.

“I had a great day again, it was an absolute pleasure and you should be proud of how the team conducted themselves, clearly influenced by excellent coaching.

It is so nice to see the young players enjoying the game and doing so in the right way. They were so polite and there are some outstanding players.

Many of them would already hold their own in D Grade.”
