Mount Kuring-gai Oval

Story

  • Former Prime Minister John Howard played for West Penno over a number of years in the 1960’s. This is the ground where he made his highest score. As recounted by Alf James (former Association President) in relation to his brother Stephen’s bowling “In 1968, at Mt Kuring-gai Oval, he helped John Howard make his highest score (34) by bowling three consecutive long hops down the leg side – all of which Howard swung at wildly and got down to the fine leg boundary….”.
  • 1994/95 B1 Grade Semi Final (Mt Ku-ring-gai) we were a player down through injury. Denise Annetts (Anderson), recently retired Women’s Test Cricket star, fielded at deep square leg – 7 months pregnant. Her son (to be born) Daniel thereby became the youngest player in the Association’s history – 2 months before birth!
    Sequel
  • On Saturday 26th January 2008 in the
C1 White game against Pymble, Daniel Anderson (12 years of age) played as a Senior registered player. His debut 12 years later now concludes this remarkable double debut! How did he go – he scored 22 and top scored for the match.
  • 2/11/2013 – Kyle Faber (101*) and Patrick Phillips (101*) put on an undefeated opening partnership of 158 Vs Mt Colah. This is the 1st time in the U15s and only the 2nd time in our Juniors history that both openers have achieved this feat – previously being achieved by Daniel Heidegger and Matt Chamberlain in the U16s the year before.
