A Team’s respect
We are all aware of the terrible Nepal flood with 8 members (2 families), of our West Penno families remining ‘unaccounted-for’.
Two of those Senior players who remain ‘unaccounted-for’ are Rishab & Rudhra Iyer who have both registered to play in our B2 side this season. To support our B2 Team members in keeping Rishab and Rudhra at the top of their minds in every game our Club has arranged for the Club playing shirts to be embossed with their names along with the Iyer family.

One for the quiet achievers
James Makin, our Seniors Director, has always been a quiet achiever:
- Our most successful A1 Captain with 4 consecutive Premiership wins (4)
- Most Premiership appearances – 21 for 12 wins & 9 losses. 11 of these GF’s have been in A1 Grade
- Most capped A1 Captain with 7 caps.
This season, he has now also been selected in the NSW Over 50’s squad to play in the National championships.

The next Breakfast radio star
For those who don’t know, we have a legendary radio producer in our club – Shehan Fernando who produces a morning radio breakfast program on Saturday mornings on Triple H 100.1 – Hornsby Community Radio.
Anyway, he did an interview with Shehan a couple of weeks ago. It was broadcast on Saturday morning so try and checkout the podcast to hear on of the great radio interviews for our Cub’s history www.triplehfm.com.au .
In fact it is probably our only radio interview but based on this quality it won’t be the last.
King Tosser – the end of an era
Last season, we ran a story on Agniva Chakraborty (C2 Blue) who set records on being a Tosser that may never be broken.
Starting in the 2024/25 season and extending into 2025/26. Agniva lost his 18th consecutive toss. Using simple Probability theory, this equates to a 1:262,144 probability or a 0.0003815% chance of this occurring.
To quote, Agniva’s reaction at the time to this amazing achievement:
“This surely makes me feel special. Fortunately, Chintan is back this weekend, so I will have to wait for my luck to turn the tides.”
Going into the 2026/27 season Agni was looking at extending this to 19 consecutive tosses with the probability extending to 1:524,288 chance or a 0.00019% chance.
Anyway, in the first game of the Season, (C2 Grade – 19/09/2026), Agni won his first toss since the 2024/25 season but has rewritten Club records in the process.
The previous record was held by 2004/05 A2 Captain, Simon Smyth, with 14 straight losses. After winning a toss after 13 attempts Simon backed up in Reps the next day and lost again. His final achievement – 20 out of 23 tosses lost – a record for overall losses in one season.
A famous visitor
In the C4 Grade game @ Campbell Park, a famous local neighbour popped down to watch some cricket –Yograj Singh — the father of legend Yuvraj Singh who played for and also captained India in both Tests (90 Tests 4,876 runs @ 38.09) & ODI’s (350 ODI’s 10,773 runs @ 50.57).
The boys also got a photo and a blessing.
Unfortunately, things didn’t work out as expected with the Team dismissed for 148 in their innings.
Sheep Station – turbo charged
The first official Sheep Station match was played on 16 December 2017, The game was an A2 fixture between Rick ‘Couldn’t call a cab’ Turner (A2 Blue) and Simon ‘Couldn’t toss a salad’ Smyth (A2 Red) – two of the worst ‘Tossers’ in our Club history. The match was played at Dural Park on a scorching hot day.
We have played over 50 games since 2017 and now it goes to the next level. In the new ‘Seniors One-day Competition’ we have another first.
There are 10 Teams competing with 4 WPHC Teams – the first time we have had 4 x Teams in one Comp.
