Vale Michael Banner

Our Club and community are deeply saddened by the news of Michael Banner’s passing this week.

Inaugural Hall of Fame member, Seniors Treasurer (2001-05), A-grade player number 284, century-scoring record-holder and loyal club player for 30 seasons.

But most importantly, our good friend. Michael has been playing A2 this season and will be sadly missed.

Our ‘Stories of West Penno’ has a Vale on Michael – Stories of West Penno .

New WPH Sports Club co-branded digital Membership card

Good news. The new digital Sports Club Membership Card is now operational.

We are meeting with the Sports club this coming week to work through the final detail of a Cricket Club co-branded card.

The key point is that the Sports Club will support us through sponsorshipbased on how strongly our members support the Sports Club. This creates a genuine two‑way partnership.

The new co-branded card offers many benefits:

  • 20% discounts across bar, restaurant & café
  • $20k badge draw access
  • $10 in bonus points to spend in the Club for every member who downloads their new digital card.

Our expectation is that everyone over 18 who is a registered WPHC player or family member of a player signs-up to be a Sports Club member.

Stay tuned for more information on how to get the digital card.

Website page updates

James Makin, our Seniors Director has worked his magic and updated the website to bring to life our major Seniors statistical records.

Our Club records are second to none and go back to 1946/47.

The records cover Seniors only due to the long history of patching together manual records that, pre PlayHQ, were kept on paper records held by Team Managers. For Juniors and Girls, statistics simply aren’t available, so it’s not possible to aggregate similar historical Leader boards.

However, our ‘Awards & Records’ (in the Club History menu) does have details of the limited records that have been sourced through manual effort over many years.

With the latest enhancements we now have:

  • On the Home page a great visual of the Season’s best achievements and also personal milestone tracking
  • There is also a new tab in our Club history ‘Statistics Hub – Seniors’ – Statistics Hub – Seniors. This is a great, easy to source data base that is worth playing around with.

The data is updated after every round.
